Checklist

Before you go ahead with hiring or purchasing an alarm, we recommend that you go through the checklist below.  This will help you prioritise your direction at this stage.

My child:
  • is six years or older
  • wets his/her bed or pullups once or more times a week
  • does not wet during the day
  • does not have chronic constipation
  • is keen to be dry at night
  • will be supported by us to use the alarm correctly and routinely

There is a high chance of success with alarm training

My child:
  • Is less than six years of age

We recommend that you don't start alarm training until he/she reaches six years.  You are welcome to contact us to discuss this.  We never accept children below five years, but occasionally will accept children between five and six years of age.

My child:
  • has used an alarm without success before
  • has a lot of stress in his/her life at the moment
  • does not have a settled lifestyle

Alarm training can still be successful, but we recommend that you e-mail or phone us to discuss your child's unique situation before obtaining an alarm.

My child:
  • often wets her/his pants during the day
  • has urinary urgency and/or frequency
  • is often constipated
  • has faecal overflow (this includes watery faecal soiling)

We strongly recommend that you have your child thoroughly assessed by a paediatrican.  You are welcome to e-mail or phone us for information sheets on these problems.  These issues should be treated before focusing on night time wetting.
